Epee Pressure Spring
The epee pressure spring is the key internal part responsible for regulating the resistance of the button at the tip of the weapon. Its function is purely mechanical and control-based: it acts as an opposing spring that prevents the electrical circuit from closing with any slight touch, ensuring that the touch is only registered on the scoreboard when the precise, regulated force is applied.
Manufactured under strict tension controls, this spring complies with the official regulations of the International Fencing Federation (FIE).
⚙️ Technical Specifications
✨ Main Features
-
Calibrated Tension: Designed specifically to not give way under the 750g control weight used by referees during weapon inspections.
-
Superior Elastic Memory: Withstands thousands of continuous compressions during training and intense bouts without quickly losing its original length or strength.
-
Corrosion Resistance: Treated to resist the moisture and sweat typical of fencing practice, preventing it from rusting inside the tip housing.
🛠️ Maintenance and Usage Tips
💡 The fencer's trick: If your epee fails the weight test (the buzzer goes off prematurely or with a very light touch), it is not always necessary to change the spring. You can disassemble the tip, remove the spring, and stretch it very slightly with your fingers to restore the 750g tension.
-
When to replace it? If the spring has become deformed, has rusted, or if it loses tension again on the same day after stretching it, it has reached the end of its service life and should be replaced.
-
Safety note: It is recommended to always carry 3 to 5 spare springs in your weapon bag, as they are tiny parts that are easily lost when cleaning the tip on the strip.
Foil Pressure Spring
General Description
High-precision micromechanical pressure spring, designed specifically for the maintenance and assembly of electric foil tips. This component is responsible for regulating the weapon's sensitivity, ensuring it strictly complies with the resistance standards of the International Fencing Federation (FIE).
Technical Characteristics
-
Material: High-elasticity tempered steel / Mechanical grade stainless steel.
-
Regulated Resistance: Calibrated to withstand a pressure of 500 grams () before allowing the circuit to close.
-
Compatibility: Universal (compatible with standard tip housings and plungers from Allstar, Uhlmann, FWF, Prieur, among others).*
-
Dimensions: Micro-component (approximately to in length when at rest).
*Note: If you use the Leon Paul brand (screwless system), make sure to purchase the specific variant for that brand.
Product Benefits
-
Durable Elasticity: Manufactured to withstand thousands of continuous compressions without premature deformation.
-
Precision in Competition: Prevents the registration of "false touches" caused by blade vibrations or minimal friction.
-
Tournament Approved: Designed to easily pass the weight test during official weapon control.
Applications and Recommendations
-
Use: Essential spare part for fencers, armorers, and fencing clubs.
-
Maintenance: It is recommended to check its tension periodically. If the spring deforms or shortens through use, it must be replaced to avoid penalties during weapon control.
-
Storage tip: As it is an extremely small part, it is recommended to keep it in magnetic organizers or sealed plastic vials to prevent loss.
